OAKLAND, CA.- One year ago BASN wrote this article about the Philadelphia Eagles and their coaching decisions. Head Coach Chip Kelly and General Manager Howie Roseman continue to dismantle this team piece by piece.

LeSean McCoy was traded to the Buffalo Bills after his best year in the City of Brotherly Love. McCoy stated :- “The relationship was never really great,” McCoy said of Kelly. “I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that’s the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That’s the truth. There’s a reason. … It’s hard to explain with him. But there’s a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.”

McCoy went on “Oh, man. People have heard it,” said McCoy, when asked if other players shared his view on Kelly. “I mean … (ESPN’s) Stephen A. Smith has talked about it. (Mr. Smith got the information from Mr. Gray in the February 26th article “Philadelphia Freedom…Or Not”) Other players have talked about it. But that’s one of the things where you don’t even care no more. I’m on a new team, ready to play. So it’s nothing to do with Chip. I have no hatred toward him, nothing to say negative about him. When he got (to Philadelphia), I didn’t know what to expect. When he let DeSean go last year, I was like: ‘C’mon. DeSean Jackson?’ So it is what it is.”

Let’s put this in plain English Mr. McCoy was stating that Mr. Chip Kelly did not want strong opinionated Black males in the locker room and that he would trade said players if he had too. Kelly has done just that. The past six months proves McCoy’s point. Kelly did not want any Black political or social malcontents in Eagle green.

Mr. Kelly does not have a great history with Black players at The University of Oregon after the incident at Boise State when running back LeGarrette Blount knocked out Bronco linebacker Bryon Hout.

Hout used the N- Word so Blount responded, down went Hout on the sky blue turf.

Now, to the post game incident involving a deserving, big mouthed, trash talking, Bronco defensive lineman and an emotionally charged, frustrated, no nonsense elite running back. Unfortunately this will be a topic of the morally pretentious ESPN broadcasters for the entire week and will also involve repercussions by the NCAA and possibly additional punishment by the UO athletic department.

My only ill will toward Blount’s actions are that the Ducks are now without their top running back indefinitely. Football is a game where players train everyday to be aggressive and hit. Good players play with emotion, and emotions don’t just stop with a whistle. It is too bad that Blount reacted the way he did for his own sake, and it is unfortunate that his immediate reaction will be held accountable while the instigator Bryon Hout will most likely see no action by the NCAA.

Kelly never defended Blount and remained silent until the Ducks needed him to win the Pacific 12 Conference Title and the National Title.

Kelly’s modus operandi has followed him to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The American Media (Philadelphia particular) jumped on this point stating that Kelly has hired more African American players then white but if you look at the starting lineup of the Philadelphia Eagles they are snow white and the seven dwarfs. THAT’S NO ACCIDENT.

Chip Kelly wanted to trade with the Tennessee Titians the team that drafted Marcus Mariota from the University of Oregon, and Kelly’s college quarterback.

The price was too high so the Philadelphia Eagles are stuck with six quarterbacks Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, Matt Barkley, G.J. Kinne, and Mark Sanchez.

None of these quarterbacks will carry a team to a championship
The Eagles lack a significant wide receiver or a dominate running back.

To end this circus, Randy Moss 3 years ago and Frank Gore last summer had second thoughts about playing for Kelly, hmmmmm…..

Drama- Guaranteed

April 9, 2014
PHILADELPHIA (BASN – Soul Tree Radio/ITR): The Philadelphia Eagles released wide out DeSean Jackson. That was not the problem; it was what the Eagles organization, ESPN, and 94.1FM WIP-radio, the Philadelphia sports station stated.

That number 10 DeSean Jackson had gang ties and that Mr. Jackson was hanging out with the wrong crowd. These sports entities did this without showing proof of their allegations.

Maybe Mr. Jackson has to repeat the legal action of St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols – who last summer filed a defamation lawsuit against former San Francisco Giant and St. Louis Cardinal Jack Clark of WGNU 920 AM radio. Mr. Clark accused Albert of “being a juicer”, using steroids or performance enhancing drugs (PED’s) without evidence.

Later Jack Clark would publicly retract the statement and stated that he had no knowledge of Mr. Pujols using anything. Clark stated that in the heat of the moment he misspoke and sincerely apologized – after he rightfully losing his job.

This is the effect of shock sports radio to garner listeners; 94WIP Radio even has a new motto “DRAMA GUARANTEED”. What does that have to do with reporting sports news?

Maybe ESPN, The Philadelphia Eagles, and 94WIP Radio need a dose of this medicine to cure their accusations. The World Wide Leader in sports should know better.

Every football team has the right to release any player, but they do not have the right to trash and destroy the player’s good character, or accuse that player without evidence.

This has been the modus operandi of the Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN, and 94WIP Radio to trash players of color. This is pitiful, shameful, and childish.

These organizations are supposed to be professional- well they are not acting like that the past few weeks no matter what DeSean Jackson might have done. Jackson helped to get the Green Birds to the playoffs with his best season as a pro.

Then why did he get released? Answer – because he wanted more cash up front in the 2014-15 season. Remember, NFL contracts are not guaranteed and that’s without drama.

This club has a history did the same to wide receiver Terrell Owens, Owens warned the other players about the management.

Quarterback Donovan McNabb did not get the message until he was sent to the Washington Football Club. Randall Cunningham was sent to the Minnesota Vikings, and then they released Michael Vick. All of these men were in their free agency year all did not return to the City of Brotherly Love.

So it’s not looking good for the Green and White when it comes to the history of African American Stars and Free Agency.

This football team will start the 2014 season in chaos because the peacemaker Michael Vick will not be there to quell team arguments. He will be wearing New York Jet green. Vick defended Riley “I’ll fight all you Niggers” Cooper when many African American players wanted Riley off the team – but now there’s chemistry issues because of DeSean’s supposed gang ties? So all the Eagles are happy with their friendly neighborhood White receiver – daring to “fight all you Niggers” – wow must be some great chemistry in that locker room!

Where were these moral police when former coach Andy Reid’s sons were slingin’ out in the Philly streets? Where was the NFL probe when Britt and Garrett Reid were committing crimes and thuggin’ out? You didn’t say a thing then – and these were crimes that were muted by the same station promising “drama guaranteed.”

Let’s keep it 100 – the Reid boys were charged with crimes; Britt pointed a gun at a motorist in a road rage moment; reportedly yells at another passenger, comes out of his car points a gun at the other driver and smiles – before driving off. If the license plate hadn’t been caught, the little punk would’ve gotten away with Felonious Crotch Grabbing in an arrogant display of WHITE PRIVILEGE before returning to his suburban Plymouth hideout.

The other one, Garrett, only gets caught after he runs a red light and smashes another car because he was high on heroin – with a gun and drug paraphernalia in the car and on his person.

This isn’t speculation – that’s fact; and while one Reid (Garrett) losing their life to drugs in a tragedy the effort to deflect all this, everyone in Philly knew these punks were playin’ a role as if they were in some music video – and the “Drama Guaranteed” boys – didn’t say shit!

And don’t hand me that crap how it had nothing to do with team business; coaches have morals clauses in their contracts as players do – but no one reached to make “gang ties” with the Reid kids – because supposedly there was no proof.

Just like there was no proof with DeSean Jackson.

And as to the ‘gang sign’ thang, former tailback Charlie Garner played a few seasons in Philly – and every time he scored a touchdown, he would cross his arms to recognize the area he came from (The Crossroads) as a sign of affection to them – not once was he accused of ‘gang ties.’

Let’s remember Riley “I’ll fight all you Niggers” Cooper uses the N-Word after being denied access backstage to country music concert last fall. The Eagles fined Cooper only after a firestorm of complaints and gave him three days off- after which he was officially ‘cured.’

Cooper signed a new contract and became a starter in the 2013-14 season, benefiting greatly from Jackson’s impact on opposing defenses. But that’s Philly for you…

Here is homework for my fellow readers. Listen to the Wednesday night April 2, 2014 podcast show of “Soul Tree Radio In The Raw” on and then listen to April 3rd’s Thursday mornings ESPN’s “First Take”.

It will be very difficult to find the difference between these shows when it came to the Philadelphia Eagles and the DeSean Jackson affair because both shows were saying the same thing. The Soul Tree Radio hosts did not receive the credit for the information that The Mouse, The Rodent, The RAT – used.

Something else very interesting happened on Friday April 4th ESPN and their sister stations changed gears and back pedaled after Richard Sherman’s article was published.

This statement stands out in this article, “One cannot change where they lived or how they grew up,” apparently Richard Sherman and the Seattle Seahawks get it. The Philadelphia Eagles do not.

Question- if DeSean Jackson were a gang member there are rules that members never wear the opposition’s color Mr. Jackson has worn both red and blue, so what does that tell you. Mr. Jackson will be wearing the colors of the Washington Football Club this year. It tells me that the Networks did not do their homework nor did they ask questions to confirm these facts.

If DeSean Jackson were a gang banger and a ‘cancer’ to the organization, why would he bother to help with the Eagles’ anti- bullying campaign? Jackson has also helped inner city children in the South Jersey-South Philly school districts, but let’s not let the facts get in the way of a good story.

For those who can, remember the Phillies first basemen, Richie Allen who got booed right out the city? Do you remember Willie Montanez? Same thing, so let Jimmy Rollins or Ryan Howard have an off the field incident – and both will be packing their bags too. The Phillies can spend $16 million on an overrated A.J. Burnett, and Jonathan Pappelsauce (Pappelbon) or whatever his name is can throw away game after game, but let Howard, Rollins or Dominic Brown have sub-par seasons, and the 94 WIP wonks will facilitate idiot fans screaming Bloody Murder about how these Niggers are making too much money!

So let’s keep this 100 too, Phillies – you would’ve buried Ryan Howard in your farm system forever had Jim Thome not been injured; so the greatest first baseman in your franchise’s history was there by fortune rather than design…that’s FACT – guaranteed.

The Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ray Emery and right wing sniper Wayne Simmonds better watch their backs because they could be the next one shipped out of the City of Brotherly Love just because (playoffs notwithstanding).

This is the same city that had the real heavyweight champion of the world, Smokin’ Joe Frazier – yet they put up and worship a statue of a movie heavyweight champion in Rocky Balboa.

This is the same city that booed Santa Claus and threw snowballs because Santa was wearing red instead of Eagle green.

So it does not surprise me at all that Mr. Jackson was booted out of this city because he wanted his salary upfront; something owner Jeffery Lurie and the Eagles never do. The writing was on the wall number 10 would no longer be playing at Lincoln Financial Field; and as his image was being peeled off of Lincoln Financial Field’s façade, the rhetoric from ‘Eagles made a big mistake’ to ‘DeSean is a whining baby – good riddance’ filled the airwaves, blogs and chat rooms.

Drama – Guaranteed.

Not “best sports coverage guaranteed” or “most introspective coverage guaranteed” – just a shitload of nonsense and pot – stirring that doesn’t spur critical thinking; but rather spews forth tumultuous tripe that plays to the lowest common denominator.

WIP’s on – air ‘talent’ trashed Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider for being old and behind the times in having faith in GM Paul Holmgren and hiring from within in promoting Craig “Chief” Berube after a 1-7 Flyers early season hole; now the Flyers are a playoff team – what do you say now?

Jock sucking and bandwagon jumping…guaranteed.

The radio station overtly endorsed the 76ers losing as many games as possible – ‘tanking’ – to gain a favorable position in the upcoming NBA basketball draft, yet has the nerve to trash them (players) because they’re losing…

Now that baseball season has started as they as they profess to love their Phillies, the station’s programming seems to favor accentuating the negative. Let’s not also forget all those wannabe journalists who profess to be capable, yet sniff around like dogs begging for a bone (job) because they will accept the atmosphere they are in rather than attempt to change or at least hold those accountable for their actions – a waste of space…guaranteed.

And now that Chip Kelly has been given carte blanche to do as he sees fit, this wannabe genius will slit his own throat because he believes he’s the smartest guy in the room – and WIP will endorse his every move because they really don’t give a rats behind about facts – how they reacted to the DeSean Jackson issue is proof of that.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – and apparently Chip Kelly’s bullshit is why DeSean Jackson will put on the jersey of the Washington Football Club. The Philadelphia Eagles could be in last place in the dysfunctional National Football Conference Eastern Division with such a change. Note to all potential football ‘geniuses’ – players make schemes work – not the coaches who draw them up.

How many Super Bowl trophies are in South Philly? As our friend from Sports Talk WCLM 1450 Cowboy Reggie Howell states “I digress”. Mr. Howell also states “Follow the money” and the Eagles never part with that; they’ve won more Salary Cap Super Bowls than any other team in the NFL by far; but money doesn’t equal trophies…unless your real goal – is not to win one.

Editor’s Note: The National Football Players Association (NFLPA) has taken notice of the circumstances surrounding Jackson’s release, and will be investigating how the Eagles handled the situation to determine whether or not the team may have done Jackson harm during their process.

(Co – Author Gray’s note) Would like to give the men and women of Black Athlete Sports Network another salute; again they got this story right as the Walt Disney Sports Network (ESPN) gave you the same information a day later.

OAKLAND, CA.- Earlier this week, about a dozen Native American actors walked off the set of Adam Sandler’s Netflix film The Ridiculous Six after their concerns about the western parody’s “racist” jokes were dismissed. The movie’s culture consultant walked off the set earlier that same week after an effort was made to revise the set for a tasteful atmosphere for Native American brothers and sisters. It never happened.
The movie industry once again is selling the stereotype of Native Americans with Adam Sandler’s film “The Ridiculous Six is a satire on The Magnificent Seven movie western. The question should be asked have they gone too far.
Ms. Allison Young, one of the actors, stated that something was defiantly wrong when they painted her gold. Ms. Young already has a brown skin tone. Something was wrong with the female characters being named Beaver’s Breath and No Bra. This could be interpreted by other female movie fans as misogynist at most and sexist at least. In one scene Beaver’s Breath is peeing outside and smoking on a peace pipe. Another scene No Bra is passed out on the floor when a group of white males pour beer over her, talking to her in a very abrasive, aggressive, and demeaning tone. No Bra gets up and starts dancing around these men. A happy drunk Indian woman the comic scenes continue the legacy of stereotypes of Native American Sisters.
Last the misrepresentation of the Apache Tribe with actors from The Navajo Tribe who are dressed like the Comanche Tribe. Talk about not doing their homework, this is it.
The actors objected to elements of the screenplay and action that they found stereotypical, offensive and demeaning. Ben Shelly, President of the Navajo Nation, has come out in support of the actors, saying in a statement that “Our Native American culture and tradition is no joking matter. … Enough is enough.”

The lack of respect toward our Native Americans Brothers and Sisters are the reasons why Dan Snyder, THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB, the Cleveland Indians, The NFL, and MLB get away with naming their team the REDSKINS and putting the mascot Chief Wahoo on their baseball caps and the sleeves of their uniforms. It does not matter to them because it does not affect them. For those who do not know Chief Wahoo is just a RED FACED SAMBO. The lack of political, economic, and social power continues this sad American legacy
David Hill 74-year old, Choctaw, a member of the American Indian Movement, also left the movie set. “They were being disrespectful,” he said. “They were bringing up those same old arguments that Dan Snyder uses in defending the Redskins. But let me tell you, our dignity is not for sale. It is a real shame because a lot of people probably stay because they need a job.”

The filming of “Ridiculous Six” is assisted through tax refunds issued by the State of New Mexico. Thus, state government plays an active role in underwriting this movie. To attract film and television companies to New Mexico, the state’s Tax & Revenue Department offers up to 30% refunds of taxes paid there by the companies. The New Mexico Film Office is a division of the state’s Economic Development Department. The Film Office was reported as having said the dispute was a First Amendment “freedom of speech” issue and that the office had no say over the movie’s content.
“As long as the production meets the requirements in the film credit statute, there is nothing prohibiting them from filming in New Mexico and receiving the rebate,” the office was reported to have said in a statement. However, granting tax credits to assist in filming is a different matter than when government merely allows the exercise of free speech without financially assisting the speaker.

It is ironic that former rapper and hip hop artist Vanilla Ice now claims to be Native American from the Choctaw Nation. He stated that loves the movie, he should because he, “Ice” is in the movie.
Allison Young, Navajo, a former film student from Dartmouth, was also offended by the stereotypes portrayed and the outright disrespect paid to her and others by the director and producers.
“When I began doing this film, I had an uneasy feeling inside of me and I felt so conflicted,” she said. “I talked to a former instructor at Dartmouth and he told me to take this as finally experiencing stereotyping first hand. We talked to the producers about our concerns. They just told us, ‘If you guys are so sensitive, you should leave.’ I was just standing there and got emotional and teary-eyed. I didn’t want to cry but the feeling just came over me. This is supposed to be a comedy that makes you laugh. A film like this should not make someone feel this way.”
“Nothing has changed,” said Young. “We are still just Hollywood Indians.”

The arrogance, ignorance, sexism, bigotry, and elder abuse continue under the guise of comedy as Native Americans are the brunt of the joke.
Mr. Adam Sandler and the other writers on this project might want to rethink the premise of this movie. In the meantime we should not support this movie or any other Sandler-Happy Madison Production project.
Everybody understands the power of the dollar, use it.

football, The Washington Football Club

OAKLAND, CA- With the recent political, racial, and social events happening across the United States, Americans are asking what country do we live in? Are we in the 1960’s?
This is a battle for people of color. This is a battle for RESPECT; This is a battle for the right to the pursuit of happiness. This is a battle to be HUMAN. It has not been going well since President Barack Hussein Obama II stepped into the White House in 2008. The election of our 44th President opened the doors for racism to stream across our land. Americans were allowed to speak their minds when it came to race and they have done so.
Native American activist Amanda Blackhorse, a plaintiff in the litigation against the Washington Football Club’s “Redskin” mascot, makes a powerful argument about why the mascot litigation is important given all the other problems facing Native Americans. Writing for Indian Country Today Media Network, Ms. Blackhorse stated that the overarching battle is against dehumanization.
Ms. Blackhorse is from the Navajo Nation in Arizona has been waging this legal battle against the Washington Football Club and The National Football League four over eight years, she states that:-
If we are not respected as human beings how can we be respected when dealing with politics and/or economics? It makes it harder to be seen as leaders, advocates, and people who want real change to happen in our communities if you are seen as just a person who dances at pow wows and viewed as a mere relic of old cowboy and Indian movies. Of course this is not the case in every situation when dealing with non-Natives and government, but it seems to be a common misconception of Native people, which transcends into politics and government
If you listen to the Gray Leopard Cove on Saturday afternoons on Blog Talk Radio it has been repeated many times that the United States of America will have to come to grips with race with a national conference on race with minorities leading the form while President Obama is at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Indiana’s Governor Mike Pence is not helping passing the Religious Freedom and Restoration Act which targets gay and lesbian residents of the state of Indiana. The Governor stated that this bill grants religious freedom and is not a discrimination bill, but just ask the (LBGT) Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender, community. This opens the door for any business in their state to refuse service just because they think that you could be a member of the GLBT community.
The University of Oklahoma Sigma Alpha Epsilon-fraternity Kappa Chapter outing.(pun intended) SAE Members sung racist epithets on a bus traveling to their yearly Founders Day gathering. These young men created images of Black people hanging from trees in these songs. Racism is alive and well in the United States.
The mounting number of deaths of African American males by police officers in the states of Ohio, California, Missouri, Florida, and New York, ALLEGEDLY. Black men are losing their lives on the platform of the Fruitvale (BART) Bay Area Rapid Transit Station, on the playgrounds of Cleveland and on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri and Miami, Florida.
The Washington Football Club and it’s owner continue the defiance to change the name, REDSKIN, a name that has been defined in the dictionary as derogatory and offensive. Racism extends towards our Native American brothers and sisters, reducing them to a mascot or logo.
Last the immigration fight by the legislators in Washington, D.C. against Latino-Hispanic Americans that want to stay in the Land of Liberty. You can clean our house, care for our children, fix our automobiles, and farm our lands but…..
Our Native American Brothers and Sisters are fighting the same battles. Native American as Ms. Amanda Blackhorse makes it very clear in her recent article “THIS IS WHAT DEHUMANIZATION LOOKS LIKE” with her 18 points.
1. The land grabbing of indigenous lands
2. The raping, violence, and hatred directed at indigenous women and children
3. The poisoning of our water
4. The desecration of our ancestor’s bones and graves
5. Each “redskin” (hair, scalp, nose, ears, genitals, and skin) taken off of an indigenous person
6. Each child taken from the arms of their parents and grandparents for the sake of “killing the Indian and saving the man”
7. Each treaty that was not honored
8. Every acre of land stolen from indigenous people
9. Every law passed since the Doctrine of Discovery for the sake of Manifest Destiny
10. Every religion stuffed down the throats of indigenous men and women for the sake of colonization
11. Each small pox blanket
12. Every head of hair chopped off in boarding schools and residential schools
13. The forced mining, fracking and desecration of indigenous lands yesterday and today
14. The sterilization of Indigenous women by Indian Health Service
15. Each tribe which no longer exists due to the attempted extermination of Indigenous people
16. Each tribal person who was exiled and relocated to urban communities
17. Each person who has been subjected to alcoholism in the name of poor business or poor treaty deals
18. Each Native person who has been experimented on and exploited for their blood, bodies, and DNA
Take a close look at each point these are some of the same issues that African Americans and The Gay community are struggling with everyday.
Also add the lack of concern by the American public when it comes to the issues of missing young African, Asian, and Native American women.
Ms. Blackhorse has been cited and criticized by others because she is messing with their beautiful 1950’s America image. She is forcing Americans to re-think racial and social issues.
Quite often when speaking out and educating others about the mascot issue, the same question is asked, “Why are you people worried about mascots? Don’t you have bigger issues to worry about on the reservations
This is the same political and social tactic America takes with crime in the United States. BLACK ON BLACK CRIME which is an oxymoron. Question, Do you ever hear the news media state WHITE ON WHITE CRIME, NO, but as First Officer of the Starship Enterprise Mr. Spock states; “That would be logical” Why? Because there are more white residents in the United States then Black. So logically there would be more white on white events then Black but don’t tell the American public that because it ruins a good story. A story that continues to dehumanizes African Americans the same treatment as Native America/First Nation.
Ms. Blackhorse makes it clear again that we are in this fight together.
Oh yes, the bigger issues question. What most people seem to be referring to are the many issues which plague Native American communities. Societal problems such as violence against women, suicide, alcoholism, high unemployment rates on reservations, poverty, etc. Many of these issues have been highlighted throughout the history of Native American people, through various studies, articles, documentaries, movies, so on and so on.
The same issues are African American. Example many do not know that the Lone Ranger-Bess Reeves a 1900 Oklahoma lawman was an African American and yes his partner was a Native America-Tonto a Potawatomi Indian, there was a Black American President before Mr. Obama.
Many African Americans believe that Senator John Hanson of Maryland was the first Black President of the United States. Henson was also the First President of the Continental Congress. It is still unclear.
These are positive role models but American History writers will not print these stories because this country continues psychologically warfare on minorities.
Demonizing Black males and dehumanizing Native Americans have been consistent the past ten years. Police officer Darren Wilson called Michael Brown a monster, a demon, which needed to be put down. Eric Gardner was called an elephant making the victim an animal. Five officers dragged him to the ground in the process of choking him to death. The military brainwashes its troops to make the enemy an animal so it will be easier to kill without conscience. This is happening all over the United States when it relates to minority citizens.
That is why it is so easy to have Native American names for its sports teams. Question what other minority has a professional team named after them? Answer, The Santa Barbara Gauchos, The San Diego State Aztecs, The University of Pennsylvania Quakers, The Idaho Vandals, The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, The Syracuse Orangemen, The New York Cubans, and The New York Black Yankees, are a few names.
In 1968 there were over 5, 000 schools that used Native American names. In 2015 The United States cut that number to 350. The tide is slowly turning but not fast enough for some minority Americans.
The Washington Football Club and owner Dan Snyder could be a beacon of light and vision in solving a small part of a disparaging and degrading sports image. Changing the name would send a message to Americans that it is time to move forward.
Again Ms. Blackhorse makes it clear:-
And allow me to drive home this point: using the ‘bigger issues’ excuse is just that, an excuse. It is an excuse that is counter-productive and does nothing to solve the greater problem of the oppression of Native people and racism directed at Native people. It’s an excuse to be apathetic and to deny a problem really exists. If you are not engaged in addressing those bigger issues you should not be using the bigger issues excuse. If you happen to be working on those bigger issues and still do not agree then let’s agree to disagree, and also understand that just because this isn’t your struggle, it doesn’t mean it isn’t a struggle for your fellow Native people.
African Americans hear the consistent beat that Black people are too sexual, criminals, not intelligent, lazy, athletic, dance like animals, and are loud. NOT HUMAN!!!!
When America colonized the Hawaiian Islands the residents were informed they could no longer perform their cultural dances or speak their native language. The woman had to wear tops to cover their breast. The Hawaiians had to conform to the Western Cultural morals.
African Americans are the second group in the United States that were strip of their land. But Blacks suffered more the lost of their culture, food, religion, and language. This country continues to do likewise with Native Americans. It is not working, Native Americans/First Nation are fighting back with tenacity and pride.
THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER and THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL CLUB will change it’s name. It is now just a matter of time.
The Gray Leopard Cove Salute, Amanda Blackhorse and the Native American political activist movement.

Roger Goodell Is The New Uncle Bud (Selig)
PART IV-Conclusion
Gary Norris Gray- BASN Staff Reporter
The Sheriff Roger Goodell rode into town on his big black stallion, waving his powerful sword carrying the red, white, and blue National Football League shield. IT IS NOT WORKING!!!!
Hope you remember the old spaghetti (Italian) western movies of the late 1970’s with Clint Eastwood. “THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY”. The following articles will proceed in reverse THE UGLY, THE BAD, and last THE GOOD.
Mr. Roger Goodell may have taken classes from the former Commissioner of Baseball, Bud Selig, doing as little as possible to placate the owners. Many have questioned the commissioner’s decisions the past nine years and the League might have to pay for those administrative decisions.
Commissioner Goodell might want to change the face of the National Football League. Realignment has not been done since 2002. Teams are currently in divisions that are geographical incorrect. The NFL state that they want to cut down on travel, gas, and time. The West coastal teams are at a disadvantage.
Last year the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers were the most traveled teams. Conversations continue to return the Seahawks to the American Football Conference WEST. This will be the third time that Seattle moves to another conference.
First, The realignment of the six current divisions by putting teams the current teams in their proper geographical regions, which could transform each division competitively. The New England Patriots have won the AFC EAST Division 12 of 14 years. WHY? Because no team in that division can challenge the red, white and blue Pats. The infusion of the Baltimore Ravens into the AFC East Division would create that competition.
The League should explain why the Indianapolis Colts are in the AFC SOUTH Division. The Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titians are current members. The Colts are nowhere near their competitors. While the Miami Dolphins are in the AFC East Division with the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots almost one thousand miles away.
Next question, why are the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC NORTH Division with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns? These teams are a train ride away from each other. The Ravens are the odd man out.
Anybody with common sense would put the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC North Division, the Miami Dolphins in the AFC South and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC East. But what do I know after fifty years of watching football?
In the National Football Conference The Dallas Cowboys do not belong in the NFC EAST, and The St. Louis Rams do not belong in the NFC WEST. The Cowboys should move to the NFC South and the Rams should move to NFC East. The NFL still envisions a team in Los Angeles this would fill that vacant spot in the NFC West with an expansion team.
These moves would save MONEY, TIME, and GAS. This would also create competitive divisions and fresh new rivalries.
It will not happen anytime soon because of the veto power of two powerful team owners. The power brokers to realignment are The Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins. These owners do not want to give up their historical divisional rivals.
Second, The NFL needs to address the name of the Washington Football Club, as an African American-Native American. I feel the pain that Native Americans who watch this team on the field. Washington owner Dan Snyder will not budge with his position. The only way this name will change is a national fan boycott of Washington Football gear and massive lawsuit against the National Football League. Mr. Goodell has waffled on this position over the last three years.
Maybe if Congress removes NFL’s tax exempt statutes, which might change some owners, mind.
If Commissioner Goodell truly wants racial harmony, the league changing the name would be the correct move. This would end one of the most racist names in the United States.
Third, The Commissioner has promoted the brand and has garnered large television contracts with four different networks. Mr. Goodell and the owners created an NFL network in 2012.
This man has promoted Thursday night games at the detriment of the player’s health. Thursday Night games need to end but the advertisers and promoters are not going to hear that.
Last question where is DeMaurice Smith? The Players Union seems to be in limbo. Smith has not spoken since the Union agreement with the National Football League.
Mr. Goodell has shown THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY in administering the National Football League the past ten years.
In Conclusion the National Football League could be on the path of disintegration and turmoil if Mr. Goodell will not control certain owners and limit gambling.
Football fans are not happy with the recent events of the playoff shenanigans.
There is a dark cloud over this sport, a sport as a child I loved.
Post Script:- When will the National Football League invite Minority ownership

Roger Goodell Is The New Uncle Bud (Selig)
2012 The Referee Lockout
By June 2012, the league and the NFL Referees Association had not yet come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement, thus failing to resolve a labor dispute. Accordingly, the NFL locked out the regular NFL game officials, and opened the 2012 season with replacement referees.
The replacement officials consisted of low-level college and high school officials. None were Division I college referees at the time since the league wanted to protect them from union backlash and let them continue working their scheduled games during the concurrent college football season. In addition, many of the top Division I conferences barred their officials from becoming replacements anyway because they employed current and former NFL referees as officiating supervisors.
Despite Goodell stating during the preseason that he believed that the replacement officials will “do a credible job”, the inexperience of the replacement referees generated criticism by writers and players. Referencing Goodell’s aforementioned other actions as commissioner, the NFLPA issued a letter after Week 2 to the owners to end the dispute.
It did not end until the Monday Night Game in Green Bay when the Packers played the Seattle Seahawks. The game ended on a Russell Wilson Hail Mary pass to the end-zone to wide receiver Golden Tate. A funny thing happened at the end of this play. Tate and Green Bay defensemen Jennings fell to the ground with the ball in both players’ arms.
By rule simultaneous possession goes to the receiver. However, if the defense first secures control of the ball, the offense cannot get simultaneous possession merely by jointly possessing the ball; the offense must then fully secure it in its own right before getting a catch ruling.
It happened so quickly the part-time officials did not see it; one signaled a touchdown the other an incomplete pass. The play was reviewed upstairs with the replay official ruling a Seattle Seahawk touchdown.
What they don’t tell you is that the betting line was affected on that play. The Packers were 3 1/2 point favorites, and would have covered the spread if it was ruled an interception. All hell broke loose in Las Vegas as millions swung the other way. We are talking 250 million dollars.
This had to end quickly.
Commissioner Roger Goodell and his second-in-command Ray Anderson made the fatal assumption that the veteran officials were just replaceable cogs in the machinery of the NFL. Anderson admitted that the quality of the officiating would be less than the locked out officials, but it wouldn’t be much of a difference. It was rationalized that the union officials make mistakes, too.
The only thing that was decisive on this play was the league’s determination to settle the collective bargaining agreement before another game was played. Within two days a deal was reached, returning the officials to the field in less than a day.

Gambling will always be part of the NFL but there is a dark side to this and The Commissioner better keep control of it or we could be seeing more strange events on the field.

Hope you remember the old spaghetti (Italian) western movies of the late 1970′s with Clint Eastwood. “THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY”. The following articles will proceed in reverse THE UGLY, THE BAD, and last THE GOOD.
Mr. Roger Goodell may have taken classes from the former Commissioner of Baseball, Bud Selig, doing little as possible to placate the owners. Many have questioned the commissioner’s decisions the past nine years and the League might have to pay for those administrative decisions.

The Sheriff laid down the law in April 2007, the first year in office with the new Personal Conduct Policies. The law and order commissioner’s first player hit under the new policy was Tennessee Titian, corner, Adam “Pacman” Jones as he “made it rain” tossing money at strip girls in a Las Vegas after the 2007 NBA All Star Game.
The second, Terry “Tank” Johnson suspended for alleged weapons possession and vehicular speeding two months later.
Then came the big one that football fans took notice of the change in the league and how Mr. Goodell handed out justice. Michael Vick quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons suspension created a firestorm because the Commissioner suspended Vick without one piece of evidence. The question was not whether Vick was guilty or not. It was the new NFL policy and how it was enforced individuals questioned.
African Americans bore the brunt of this new policy, guilty or not.
When a Caucasian player committed an alleged crime Goodell and the NFL officials took their time and weighed all the evidence but when an African American committed the same alleged crime the suspension was immediate and stern. Guilty until proven innocent.
The punishment for African Americans, was severe while for white players it was a slap on the wrist. What bothered many players was that the current commissioner was judge, jury, and executioner.
This man dispensed discipline willy-nilly with no prior criteria. All Pro defenseman Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu made it clear that Goodell had too much power and control over the disciple polices and it needed to be changed.

On September 13, 2007, Goodell disciplined the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick after New England attempted to videotape the defensive signals of the New York Jets on September 9. Belichick was fined the league maximum of $500,000 and the team itself was fined US$250,000 and the loss of their first round 2008 draft pick. Goodell came down hard on the Patriots because he felt Belichick’s authority over football operations (Belichick is effectively the Patriots’ general manager as well as head coach) was such that his decisions were “properly attributed” to the Patriots as well. Goodell said he considered suspending Belichick, but decided against it because he felt fining them and stripping them of a draft pick were “more effective” than a suspension.
This was the commissioner’s first major mistake because the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick would break the rules again nine years later.
Roger Goodell dragged his feet for the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, Ron Irsay. Mr. Irsay was detained by the police for alleged DUI in Carmel, Ind. They found prescription drugs and a suitcase full of money in his automobile. It took the League and The Commissioner nine months to take any action.
This has been the Modest Operandi for this commissioner when it comes to the reprimands and suspensions of Caucasian personnel in the National Football League.
The only exception was when
The Commissioners finally laid down the law with the New Orleans Saints Bounty Gate Scandal. He should be commended because it was the first time the office stood its ground, not because of the infraction but because the Saints administration did not tell the league office the truth.colston_saints
In New Orleans in 2012 the SHERIFF threw the book at the Saints at Head Coach Sean Payton and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. On March 21, 2012, Williams was suspended from the NFL as a result of his (admitted) involvement in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal. Bounties were paid for causing injuries that would take targeted players on opponent teams out of games.

Williams was suspended indefinitely because he was messing with the product. Williams directed Saints players to hurt stars in the league and that cannot happen. Goodell threw down the hammer. It was the only time Goodell handed out lengthy suspensions to Caucasian members of the National Football League.

The Commissioner was particularly angered that those involved in the program lied about it during two separate league investigations of the program.

Two years ago Philadelphia Eagle wide receiver Riley “I will fight every N***** here” Cooper stated these words. He was trying to go backstage at a concert in Philadelphia. A Black security guard would not let him pass. The Philadelphia Eagles fined and suspended him for one game but the league did nothing.
The League had instituted a language policy a few months earlier which was a 15 yard penalty for using the N-word.
While the League uses one of the most despicable and racist words in America when it pertains to the Washington Football Club. The Language penalty was resented.
The Sheriff never showed up.
Next Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s and Green Bay Packer Britt Favre’s alleged sexual misconduct were never addressed and both quarterbacks received light sentences. Both players were given passes while the investigations continued. Both players never received the wrath or venom that African American players received when breaking the same laws.
The racial games continued with Jacksonville wide receiver Jaguar Matt Jones On July 10, 2008 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jones was arrested at gunpoint and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Jones and one other former Arkansas football player, Jared Hicks, were inside a vehicle that was searched by police. The police found a plastic bag filled with six grams of a white substance that tested positive as cocaine and a jar with possible marijuana residue. Officers questioned Jones and he acknowledged the white powder was in fact cocaine, the report said.
Matt’s father made a statement that Matt was not in possession of any drugs but was in the vehicle that had the drugs.
Matt Jones did not spend a day in jail.
The NFL suspended Jones for three weeks for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He was in the lineup for Week 8, pending an appeal. On December 9, 2008, the NFL upheld Jones’ three-game suspension which caused him to miss the rest of the season.
Jones played three more games while the league investigated the charges. The Double Standard raised its ugly head.
Next The Commissioner wanted to stop players leading tackles with their helmets but here again he picked and chose which player would be fined. Goodell released a memo to every team in the league stating that, “It is clear to me that further action is required to emphasize the importance of teaching safe and controlled techniques and of playing within the rules”.
Mr. Goodell forgot one thing, RACE. It seems that All Pro middle linebacker of the Green Bay Packers, Clay Matthews can tackle anybody in anyway. Early this season Matthews hit San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of bounds with a flying tackle. Matthew’s elbow hit the chin of Kaepernick causing a slight concussion. Matthews led with his helmet something The Commissioner had stressed players not to do before the season started. NO FLAG, NO DISCIPLINE.
Matthews committed the infraction again in the NFL playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson threw an interception in the second quarter and Matthews went head hunting when the Packers received the ball. When Matthews launched himself through the air to tackle Wilson, he missed!!!! AGAIN, Matthews led with his helmet. He missed because Number 3 with his baseball skills sled under Matthews avoiding a certain concussion. AGAIN NO FLAG, NO DISCIPLINE.

The breaking point for African American football fans happened was the way the league handled or mishandled the Ray Rice- Baltimore Raven running back and Adrian Peterson-Minnesota Viking running back, abuse cases. The Commissioner threw the book at both of them but not before a second bite at the judicial apple.
The League and Goodell ignored the abuse problem until they were put on Front Street by TMZ, The Television Magazine show. Four teams had multiple cases of spousal abuse this year and the league did not say a word, the game happened to be more important than female lives.

N. F. L. No Fan League

N. F. L. – No Fan League
Gary Norris Gray-BASN Staff Reporter
I’m no longer a fan of the National Football League. It was a 50 year journey but it might have come to an abrupt end this past weekend with Super Bowl 49. It ended with the New England Patriots beating the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. It ended with one of the strangest calls in Super Bowl History. It came to an end when the league not enforcing its own league rules. Until they clean up or fix the following problems this fan will not root for any team, spend time watching games or spend money on the National Football League…This reporter will do his job and report on games and players for the Black Athletes Sports Network, that’s it.
Just as this fan 15 years ago dropped Major League Baseball for denying their steroid problems and the decline in African American participation on the diamond.
This league continues to discourage talented Black quarterback’s, there are currently six starting quarterbacks out of thirty two teams. The League continues to muffle the voices of strong Black males like running back MarShawn Lynch and defensive corner back Richard Sherman.
To the point that it causes a head coach to think twice about what would have been a game ending scoring play. Coach Pete Carroll and the NFL did not want MarShawn Lynch to be the MVP. It cost the Seahawks a Super Bowl Victory.
That call for LYNCH not to be MVP was done before the game started. They did not want to have him in a post game interview saying “I’m just here not to get fined” it would hurt the image of the shield!! Really, the shield is already damaged.
Writer and author David Zirin states that
The theory goes something like this. Russell Wilson is your young clean-cut God-fearing media-perfect quarterback. If one was creating a superstar face to market for the twenty-first century, chances are they would look, sound and basically be Russell Wilson. He’s Derek Jeter with a Bible, your “biracial angel” of our times. Marshawn Lynch is… Marshawn Lynch, and if you haven’t figured out what that means after the past two weeks, then you haven’t been paying attention.
The theory goes that there were major financial, public relations and football reasons for Russell Wilson and not Lynch to be the one who ends the game in glory. If he throws that touchdown for the victory, Wilson is almost certainly the Super Bowl MVP. He gets the commercial. He gets to stand with the commissioner. And oh, by the way, he also gets his new contract, one that will fasten his prime, at only 26 years old, to the Seattle franchise. Marshawn Lynch is also due a new contract. Marshawn Lynch, had he punched that ball over the goal line, would get to be the one handed the MVP trophy. Marshawn Lynch maybe gets on the mic to say Lord knows what.
The league discourages economic disadvantaged fans to attend their games because they are pricing tickets out of their range. This year’s Super Bowl tickets were in the range from five thousand to eight thousand dollars.
The league should have punished this repeat offender from Spy gate-days, Belichick and the New England Patriots should have been banned from the Super Bowl to instill the power of the NFL. The League should have done this too warn this organization that the next time you will be thrown out of the league. The League needed to bench Mr. Belichick at the least four games or put him on probation/fined and suspended indefinitely. Last the league should take a few first round draft choices as an insurance policy that this organization would never do it again.
It will not happen because of the old boy network; Mr. Robert Kraft and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell are best friends.
I’m done with this league because Glendale, Arizona paid $300 million for the new Phoenix Stadium. The same thing could happen to Oakland California with their problems building a new Oakland Alameda County Coliseum.
The Arizona city’s debt is now four times the national median, 40% solely for sports complexes. Glendale’s budget crisis is so dire half of the city’s teachers, firefighters, and police were threatened with layoffs–but were saved by a permanent 10% sales tax on residents. This is the Super Bowl scandal you didn’t hear about.
Watch out Santa Clara!!!! Watch out!!!! The home of the next Super Bowl.
The National Football League went into gutter mood with Super Bowl 49. It went into the gutter because The United States of American cheers for a team of (alleged) cheaters. The New England Patriots should have been punished before this Super Bowl. Repeat offenders need to be punished. The league wanted to play politics rather then play football.
The NCAA and the NFL needs to stop permitting head coaches like Lane Kiffin (USC)-Oakland Raiders, Pete Carroll (USC)-Seattle Seahawks, and Chip Kelly (Oregon)-Philadelphia Eagles after they have been accused of NCAA rules violations.

DEFLATE GATE was the final straw, the New England Patriots used deflated footballs the first half in the American Football Conference Championship with the Indianapolis Colts.

This team with a very shady past was involved in another controversial event at a very inopportune time-THE SUPER BOWL.

There are many other issues this league has ignored. The NFL will not address the Washington Football Club name, as an African American-Native American it pains Native Americans to watch this team on the field. The League will not address the issue of mounting player concussion syndrome. The League refuses to address the lack of Black starting quarterbacks (6 starters of 32 teams) and the lack of African American team ownership which remains at ZERO.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
The first game this fan witnessed was the Baltimore Colt-New York Giant overtime NFL playoff thriller, December 28, 1958. It was a national sensation and this new fan wanted to be with the IN CROWD. As a seven year old this fan thought the game was fascinating.
Football was a hard hitting fast action game with superstars on the field.
Baltimore quarterback Johnny Unitas and the Colts beat the Giants in Yankee Stadium 23-17. America was abuzz about this new action game. It was fun because North Jersey wanted the Giants to win while South Jersey wanted the Colts to win. This fan would adopt his own team called the Philadelphia Eagles which played in old Franklin Field.
The first game this fan attended was in the freezing cold of Philly with the Eagles playing the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams at that time were not stellar and were at the bottom of the NFL Eastern Division. It was fun because we had a seat on the field in the end zone. It was a thrill for a thirteen year old seeing the game he loves.
The Eagles would get a new owner Jerry Wolman in 1962. The green birds would fall on hard times and last place. This fan would change teams looking west and three new teams and a new league.
The American Football League started and this fan loved the 4:00pm start on The NBC Sports Network. His new teams were The Oakland Raiders, with the white cleats with silver and black uniforms, the Los Angeles Chargers with their lightning bolts and powder blue uniforms. Those uniforms made them look cool. This fan loved this new league because they had players that looked like him unlike the National Football League.
This fan felt heart-break and joy with his teams. The Los Angeles Chargers moved to San Diego. The Oakland Raiders would move to Los Angeles right after this fan established residency in Berkeley, California. This teenage fan team the Los Angeles Rams would move to St. Louis and this fan would adopt a new team the New York Giants completing the circle.
On February 1, 2015, Black History Month, The National Football League lost a lifelong fan because the league cannot or will not control itself.
P.S. Special thanks to the New York Times, Wikipedia web sites, and David Zirin for some of this information
